Having qualified in the limited competition amongst 5 shortlisted firms from India, this was a design competition for probably the single largest commercial office building at Surat. This project envisions to become the global hub for diamond trading and processing sector. With the site area of 42.5 acre and total construction area of over 7 million square feet, and housing 4685 offices, this project was an intense effort by the office in designing it through very scientific processes, keeping values like space optimisation, daylit spaces, minimum walking distances, and high security levels, in the centre. Though we narrowly lost the competition, this mammoth exercise, brought about a huge shift in the design process of the firm. The projects designed after this one, have increased the usage of scientific design tools and climatic studies.
